Virtual Grid

Virtual Grid is a technique which enables to replace the mechanical dials of digital cameras with sensory optimized, virtual dials directly on the touchscreen.

Touchscreen dials are recently used in technology. How well they work can be seen for example in the AppCam video here. The dials shown there are not real but only shown on the touch screen of a Samsung tablet.

The only disadvantage of these virtual dials so far has been that they have no sensory clicking points, that they can not be felt with the fingertip and also that they can not be operated blindly. Virtual Grid now allows all these functions. In this case, a 3D line pattern is pressed into the glass screen above the touchscreen field which gives the fingertips a sensory feedback. This feedback, in conjunction with acoustic clicks, allows the user to handle the camera as accurately and reliably as a mechanical dial.
